Report: J.J. Abrams to direct Ep. 7

Post by Wildstar » Sat Jan 26, 2013 1:19 pm

It's being widely reported that J.J. Abrams (Fringe and the Star Trek reboots) is in negotiations to become the director of Star Wars Episode 7. I generally like this, but a few of my friends on another forum have expressed dismay, panning the camerawork in the first Star Trek movie. Anyone with thoughts?

I am pleased with the selection of J.J. Abrams as director. I just hope he doesn't do another alternate reality thing so he can start changing things that should not be changed. Blowing up Vulcan was a bit too far in the new Star Trek film.

I think JJ will do a great job.

I do agree that blowing up Vulcan was a bit far, but he did want to change the franchise to make it his own.

Alternatively I think he can really bring new life to the Star Wars franchise making the characters very 3 dimensional.

I thought this was very well done without being a Prequel hater.

Very well done and some very good advice. I'm no prequel hater but they are definitely not as well respected as the original trilogy. Lets hope JJ makes some good films. :D

Being late to most movies that are released in the theaters I just saw the 2nd Star Trek film and I can't say I dislike either of them. JJ Abrams has continued the dedication to the original characters but made them contemporary and well acted. I really was impressed with special effects and the story line. Yes sure some of it is unbelievable but it is a movie, and I must admit suspending belief is what I like about movies. I hope with Star Wars he brings a lot of the Epic back to it. I think with some of the Prequels of Episodes I-III while I loved the Jedi there was not enough of it for me even. I am more of an Old Republic fan. So I am hoping we see Epic as opposed to a down to earth Drama.
