Ryan Vs Dorkman 2

Post by Darth Inez » Mon Feb 26, 2007 9:29 am

I just seen the first one and am impressed by the chorography and although there's no costumes or real story to speak of they still hold my interest and create some light humor for star wars fans.
I'm certainly looking forward to the sequel coming out this March.

Here's a link in case you havn't seen this short duel film:

Yeah. I think this one is pretty good. Not my favorite, but okay to just enjoy some lightsaber fighting.

I think that if they incorporated a short story element and emotions, etc to their short duel videos that they would be a lot better.

I must say out of all the duel videos I have seen, when I came across this one I was pretty impressed. Not only is the rotoscoping pretty good but the things they did during the fight were pretty innovative I thought. The fighting while rolling/laying on the ground in particular. Just the idea of lightsaber dueling while laying on the ground sounds like it would be lame and look horrible, but these guys proved it could work.

By the way, here is another one of their videos I recently found:

I Just Seen RVD2. I really enjoyed it, the effects were definately stepped up and the humour was definately maintained with even better chorography. All I can say is when is the 3rd one coming out. Here's a link to the "You Tube" of it.

Yeah, I had seen both and they are good. I almost felt a little let down by RVD2.

I was amazed at how good these are. They have the choreography down and even the music syncing is much better than in some things I have seen. Some people are just very good at this stuff and have more free time than I do.

I am good with making the lightsaber blades, but I have never tried to do it on anything but a still picture. I also never really have much a need to make the blades these days.

I make Blades all the time for my paintings and for making photos of family members as Jedi, but doing it on the level that these guys are doin it blows my mind, I would love to try it, but with all the bad duels out there (which these are definately not), I'm afraid I'd get lumped in as one of them. And besides that, time as it is with most people is not my friend. These guys sure do get my respect and admiration though.

I've always been able to create the blades on still images and the like but recently I have been finally diving into rotoscoping some test videos of my brother and I swinging around sabers. Lots of work but it is worth it in the end!
