Mesa been thinking....

Post by Wedge Antilles » Tue Feb 28, 2006 9:51 am

*Poor Gungan impression off*

I finished Onslaughts in Danger over a year ago to pursue a different story.

And I've been trying to think what to do with it. So I was wondering if anyone had any ideas? Do you think it's worth trying to get it made into some sort of book for younger readers?

Here's the Prologue.

About three years after the destruction of the Emperor over Endor, the desert planet of Tatooine was still the same as it had always been. Mos Eisley, Mos Entha, Mos Espa, and Mos Taike were still packed with deep space pilots and smugglers. Tusken Raiders still roamed the land, pillaging moisture farms and the likes. Jawas still sold anything that looked vaguely useful.
The black abyss dotted with pinpoints of light, otherwise known as space, that surrounded the planet was definitely not the same as it had been. It had become nothing more than a junkyard. Months of encounters between opposing factions, combined with Arkanian Microtechnologies’ constant experiment failures, had forged a thin ring of debris circling the planet. Every day, chunks of debris would tear away from the ring, and fall towards the planet, or drift slowly away to be devoured by one of the twin suns.
Ten New Republic transports of Carrier convoy emerged from hyperspace narrowly avoiding the hull of a Corellian YT-1800 freighter drifting out towards Tatoo One. They were en route to Sullust, delivering various supplies. Their journey would take them right past Eriadu, however, and reports of an Interdictor cruiser being sighted there had called for an escort for all convoys travelling near the system. Seeing as the A-wing squadron being sent along the Corellian Way had not arrived yet, Commander John Defling on board Carrier One ordered the convoy to move into the debris field . There, they would wait for the escort.
Lieutenant Arick of Carrier Ten spoke up just as his transport had entered the wreckage. “I’ve got a read on something coming out of hyperspace behind us. We should try and move further into the debris field, or find somewhere to land on the planet. â€

I think that once I've edited the rest of the book it could be worth trying to get it into a young-readers book.
