Just thought I'd ask if anyone had seen the movie Avatar? I decided to go and see it last weekend and enjoyed it. For some reason it has a 'Star Wars' feel to me, that may be due to the 'chosen one' feel of the leading male I guess. I did expect to be annoyed or disapointed in the CGI all over the place, but that didn't happen.

I am also one of the few in this world who has not seen Avatar. But unlike most, I don't really have any desire to go see it. I will probably rent it. I also am not a fan of all of the 3D junk going on right now so I am not really a good candidate to be judging this film. :D

I know what you mean about the 3d junk Viper, I'm much the same. To be honest I didn't notice all the 3D hype till after I'd seen the film.I had seen a short story on the film somewhere and thought; James Cameron, sci-fi, CGI, might be worth seeing. Other than that I knew nothing. I didn't expect to see it in 3D, thought there'd be anon-3D version to see as well. The 3D at the start was quite annoying, it seemed to strain my eyes and made the film difficult to watch (could have been too close to the screen?).

Actually I am not a fan of 3d yet either. I watched Journey to the Center of the Earth both without 3d and with 3d and liked it better without. I don't think that at this time the 3d stuff is adding anything to the films, it is just gimmicky.

Of course, as much as I don't like 3D, if Star Wars is released in 3D, I will go see it.

Actually it would depend, I would have to see the 3D to be sure. I saw Attack of the Clones on IMAX and that was pretty amazing. It was not gimmicky and many parts of it did seem much more 3D than seeing it on a regular screen. I am sure Star Wars is an exception. :)

I finally saw Avatar last night and thought is was a very good movie. Of course I don't think Avatar is the end all be all movie of all time. We already have that movie in Star Wars. It felt to me a lot like the Union Soldiers vs. the Indians.
I also felt that the 3D was unobtrusive, not gimmicky, and very well done. Instead of items being off the screen and in your face like so many 3D movies, Avatar gave the feeling more of depth of the environment if that makes sense. The high shots or flying shots really gave you a sense of that depth. I would say they left a crack at the end of the movie for a sequel. I would rather they not do that though. The story was a great package by itself and having a sequel might ruin this movie. Only time will tell. If Hollywood has there way, I am sure there will be a sequel just because it was such a cash cow for them. I would recommend this movie.

I think it is a great movie in this year. In that, something new so the people is interested in that. It is unequivocally, completely, best the film that has been percolating in James Cameron's head. It is an adventure movie.
Excellent movie!

I still haven't seen the film. I guess I probably should. I will probably just rent the film and save some money. Movie ticket prices are outrageous! :D
