Transition trays?

Post by carrillo8530 » Tue Sep 18, 2007 7:45 pm

So I'm adding my POTF2 stuff to my collection and I was looking at variations and as the title might make clear, what is a transition tray? How do I know I have a figure with a transition tray?

When the modern line of Star Wars figures came out, the first releases of Luke, Obi-Wan, Vader, Luke X-Wing, and Luke Dagobah all came with Lightsabers that were way too big. They were the same size as the figures themselves. After awhile Hasbro shortened the length of the ligtsabers a bit, although it took them some time to change the plastic tray that the figure and lightsaber came packaged in. For a short time the figures were packaged with a short lightsaber, but the space inside the tray was still made to fit the long lightsaber. These are what are now known as the Transition trays. They are also referred to as Short Lightsaber/Long Trays. Later on, these trays were later replaced to fit only the short lightsabers.

Hope this helps.
