Post by viper2843 » Sun Feb 18, 2007 3:56 pm

Attention all members!!!

Starting March 12, 2007, I will be doing some database maintenance to the SW Forums. I will be clearing out any members with a post count of zero. This is for any member regardless of when the member joined. When you become a member of this forum, it is expected that you participate. If you do not want to participate, you are welcome to browse the forums as a guest. If you have any questions, please contact me via this form or via this thread. Thanks.

Great idea. I know we have had some posters that have added drug websites like viagra and porn sites lately.

I know in the past Viper that you have sent an e-mail to all members inviting them back to participate. I hate to say it, but I am on daily and I have only seen the very core members as of late. Maybe the others need a reminder that we are still here.

Most of the new members that are added everyday are from computers spamming the site. There is a known problem with the phpBB software that allows them to sign up for the site. I currently handle this by manually deleting them everyday. I try to do this as soon as they pop up but it can be difficult. When phpBB 3.0 comes out, this problem will hopefully be solved.

You are right Jedi Power, I used to send out periodic emails inviting people back to the boards. Perhaps this latest email might bring some people back. If not, I might send a slightly friendlier email later. :D

I think that is a fine idea. Many people get busy and forget what they sign up for, but they should participate. There is no reason to belong somewhere without posting, unless they are just an announcement group, which we aren't.
