Cannonising

Postby Crabbe » Fri May 22, 2009 9:22 am

Hi guys,

Not sure where to post this or even if anyone would know the answer.

I have designed a space craft which I am planning to build out of lego.It is a large cargo vessel, which would fall into the "heavy" category in the star wars universe. When built it will be about 7ft long, by 4 ft wide - with approximately 100,000 pieces.

I am building the interior detail aswell in depth, including lighting, oxygen pipes, water systems, working landing gear, doors & moving parts, full cabin quarters, control room, etc.Everything a real craft would need.

Before I start all of this though, I would like it to be recognisable as a genuine star wars craft. How would I go about possibly getting this design cannonised?

Is that even possible?

Any help would be greatly appreciated,

Cheers!

Welcome to the SW Forums! I am not sure, but I have a contact from the inside who may be able to give me the answer.

That would be awesome, cheers m8!

I mean, I suppose its not hugely important in some respects.I will enjoy designing, building, & showing the set off to star wars fans etc, but I guess I would like it to be officially recognised too.

To be cannonised I guess I will have to look into which period it would have been built, in service, which hyperdrive it uses, which company built it, ie Corelian, Kuat Drive Yards etc,

That would be fun because I could make up a background story for the ship etc!

I would love that. I know of some people who can also make an outstanding 3D model of it if they would take the time to do it. I would love to see the ship built and get info about it. As you may have seen from my site, Ships are my favorite thing! Good luck!

Well, at the moment, the only thing really stopping me from building it is room!

I need a spare room or maybe garage to build it in & I dont have either at the moment lol.My plan is to start building the landing gear/feet which will be the size of a tennis ball each.

As you are a fan of ships, this may be of interest to you... I am trying to find a heavy freighter star wars craft, but that has not been designed yet...

I have been looking on starwars.wikia.com, at the lists of ships built by the various manufactorers in the star wars universe. When I think I have found a craft that has no known design or description, I am going to enter my design & description on wikia.

Do you think that is a good idea?

I would definitely check JP's site as there are pictures to go along with the descriptions. It also gives you time periods, and ship building yards which helps if you are designing something from a specific area or time period. I know I have used it a couple of times for the things I have written and it has helped immeasurably!
